Stephen Ray Vaughan was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, and one of the most influential blues revival guitarists of the 80s. He was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in 1990 (35yo). Vaughan, or SRV as he is also known, was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He began playing guitar at the age of seven, inspired by his older brother Jimmie. He then formed his own group Triple Threat Revue, but he renamed them Double Trouble after hiring drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon. He gained fame after his performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 82, and his debut studio album Texas Flood in 83.
Over the years Stevie Ray Vaughn was not a big fx pedal user relying mainly on his over driven valve amplifiers to gain his blues tone. SRV used only a few guitar amplifiers including the Fender 68 Custom Reverb amp, the Fender 59 Bassman amp, the Fender 65 Super Reverb amp and the Marshall Plexi 1959SLP amp.
